This painting reminds me of the monsters in my own head, such as fear of the unknown seeming scary. However, in reality, they aren't as scary as I think. In my work, the bear can represent myself facing the monsters in my life with curiosity and courage, and the hill represents my monsters and fears. The bear shows that my monsters are something I can face with bravery and curiosity, rather than fear. Throughout the process of making my piece, it was interesting to explore the importance of different layers of paint. I used darker base colours, building highlights on top creating more depth in my art.
